A New Chef-Inspired Experience in Wayland Square

Hidden among Wayland Square’s shopping bastion is The Olive Tap, an inconspicuous food haven that’s far from a newcomer to the Rhode Island scene. However, many an onlooker believes the exceptionally clean store to be nothing more than an upscale shop for specialty oils, when in fact Greg Holtkamp, the store’s co owner, has slowly been transforming it into one of the most intimate of dining destinations on the East Side...

Ranked the best foodie city in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s “America’s Favorite Cities” with poll ahead of New York, New Orleans, Chicago, and Portland, OR; Providence is the perfect place to introduce New Englanders to everything The Olive Tap has to offer.

As food and cooking enthusiasts, we recognize that one of the greatest contributions to a memorable meal is the quality of the ingredients used – that’s why we offer the freshest possible artisan olive oils, authentic aged balsamic vinegars, high quality spices, gourmet specialty foods, and more to fellow “foodies” in Providence.

With the rich Italian and Portuguese heritage of many of the residents and the influence of Johnson & Wales, one of the preeminent culinary colleges in the world, we get plenty of inspiration and ideas for delicious ways to use our seasonally imported, freshly pressed olive oils and aged authentic balsamic vinegars!  In addition, we are committed to supporting Rhode Island by offering fresh local foods to our customers, including products like delicious Aquidneck honey and freshly baked Buono’s bread that is delivered to the store every morning!

We’ve chosen Wayland Square as our first Rhode Island location.  A quaint bustling business district in the heart of Providence’s east side, Wayland Square is home to many unique retailers as well as several accomplished restaurants, making it a charming neighborhood to take a stroll, shop, and grab a bite to eat.  Just make sure to stop by to sample our 100% EVOOs, Flavored Oils and Balsamic Vinegars before your meal so you aren’t too full to enjoy the experience!  Once you have found your favorites, our staff will bottle, cork and seal your selections right on the spot, so you know that what you tasted is exactly what is going home with you.

Only blocks from prestigious Brown University and just one mile from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), The Olive Tap at Wayland Square is also participating in the vibrant arts culture by inviting local artists to exhibit their works.  With a new display going up every two months, there will always be something new to see while tasting our freshly pressed olive oils and aged authentic balsamic vinegars!
